East Hills is located on nearly 14 acres in the Oakland Hills with probably the largest Baptismal in the Bay Area (our swimming pool)! The Deacon Board oversees the monumental task of the facilities upkeep and the finances of East Hills. Our unique property is a quiet retreat from the surrounding urban lifestyle, and offers many features that are shared with various community groups for the purpose of education, mental and spiritual refreshment. We are committed to excellence and integrity.
The auditorium holds nearly 200 people for worship, community meetings, weddings or receptions, and music education and programs. The advanced sound and lighting system provide many opportunities to worship, sing and play great music from the classics to contemporary worship choruses.
“The Mansion” is an authentic 1948 art deco residence which is the center of the former Miller Estate. The attractive Living Room is a popular meeting place for many groups including Sunday morning adult programs, Tuesday night Toastmasters, several Anon groups, occasional voting booths and others. The top floor also houses our nursery and toddler programs, and soon the Tudorka Tots nursery school as well as church offices including Pastor Scott, Tami, the church secretary, and Thor, our singles and worship director. The middle level is home to Baywood Learning center, home to a special school for gifted students who learn better in a non-traditional environment. You may see them around the property doing a science experiment or some other creative aspect of their studies. Finally on the lower level, Tim Oliver swim program teaches kids from infants to high school how to swim in one of the warmest (87 degrees) pools in the Bay Area from April to November. The lawn and play areas around the pool fence provide a relaxing place to enjoy the views of the surrounding hills or a game of volleyball. The play structure was designed for our former pre-school kids and provides a safe and fun location for little ones to play.
Redwood Groves – the property has several quiet trails leading up and down the seasonal creek which is reminiscent of Muir woods. The towering redwoods shield hikers from all noise from the surrounding area, and you think you are miles from civilization. The trail connects to the well-known Leona Lodge trails and can be taken to the sulfur creek going south.
